Automation QA Manager
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and driven Automation QA Manager to lead our test automation initiatives and drive quality assurance excellence across our product development lifecycle. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, guiding a team of QA engineers while designing scalable automation strategies to ensure high product quality and performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement best practices, streamline QA operations, and maintain automation coverage across web and API platforms for our global client base.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the overall automation testing strategy and roadmap for web, API, and integration testing.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust, scalable, and reusable automation test frameworks and scripts.
- Manage and mentor a team of QA automation engineers, providing technical direction, coaching, and career development support.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, and Manual QA to align on test planning, execution, and coverage.
- Drive shift-left testing practices by integrating automated testing early in the development process.
- Ensure continuous quality checks by integrating test automation into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of test data, environments, and documentation to support stable, repeatable test execution.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on test coverage, defect metrics, and automation effectiveness to key stakeholders.
- Participate in architectural and design discussions to influence quality and testability of new features.
- Lead regular code and test reviews, enforcing automation best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
- Evaluate and introduce new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to optimize QA operations and team productivity.
- Support UAT, performance testing, and release readiness reviews as part of the QA leadership function.
- Ensure security and compliance testing aligns with enterprise and industrial standards for cloud and on premises.
- Establish and monitor key quality metrics, leveraging data analytics to drive improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in QA roles, with at least 3 years in automation and 1+ year in a team leadership or management role.
- Proven expertise in automation frameworks/tools such as Selenium WebDriver, Cypress, Playwright, TestCafe, RestAssured, or Postman/Newman.
- Experience in integrating test automation with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar.
- In-depth understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, SDLC, and testing life cycles.
- Hands-on experience with version control (Git), test management tools, and defect tracking systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with global teams.
- A proactive mindset with a strong focus on quality ownership, leadership, and continuous improvement.
- Experienced or solid at least one programming language for automation test such as Java, Javascript or Python.
- Proven track record in building and scaling QA team, including setting up, and delivering.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in multi-region or distributed engineering teams.
- Exposure to cloud-based testing environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with containerization tools (e.g., Docker) and test orchestration platforms.
